with the main screen clear for images and the 2ndary (el cheapo pci nvanta clone) for my palettes and tool bar and bridge.Īlso great for watching tv on one and browsing on the other (especially during the football season!). i can run off just the primary on the 5200 (for quick and dirty, like my wife wants a pix printed), but normally i run either both in 1204×768 or both in 1280×1024. # remove NO SPAM to email, or use form on website #ĭave, how does that work? I mean which is operative when running PS and in what cases do you swap (if swapping is what you do)?īoth are operative full time.

Try switching your video driver for a generic VGA one and see if PhotoShop runs then (if it does, it’s a video issue). Run a hardware diagnostics program like Sandra Pro and make sure everything is behaving in your machine.

Make sure you have the latest motherboard and video drivers installed. Make sure that all the fans are spinning (overheating can cause erratic behaviour in Windows). Sounds to me something far more seriously wrong with your Windows installation or physical computer As far as Adobe Elements goes, the program works great on the Organization side but I have noticed some freezes on the editing side.

I did upgrade to a newer driver (ATI calls it Catalyst) but still no go. I have noticed that several people have ATI cards…………do you think its a problem with the card? I have a 2 month old Alienware computer but I opted for a cheap 128 meg ATI 9950 so that I could save and get a better one. When I go to erase like I described above it will let me do it for like 15 seconds then it will no longer erase……thats when everything goes white…….and if I let it sit at that point ….sometimes it will "come alive" again and let me erase some more …but only for a few more seconds. I did quit Photoshop and restart….I even rebooted my system. I really don’t want to have to reformat my HD if I can get around it. Oh, one more thing, I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements (latest version) and the ORGANIZER SIDE seems to be working great but the EDITING SIDE freezes too. I just got a Digital Rebel XT camera and Im "burning at the bit" to play around with photoshop. Both of these also are on my older computer and Photoshop works great. My computer is barely 2 months old the only thing I have running on start up is ZoneAlarm Firewall and Norton System Works. I loaded the program on my other slower comptuer and have no problems whatsoever. I reduced screen resolution……….didn’t fix. I checked out my RAM with several utilities (microsoft etc) all turned out ok. I Lowered and then ultimately turned off Hardware acceleration….didn’t fix. Anyway, I have updated to the latest driver……didn’t Fix. I see a disheartening trend in that all the people who posted about this very same problem seem to have an ATI card….maybe its just a coincidence. I have read all the other posts on this subject. I am having the same problem that other people seem to be having with Photoshop freezing………everything turning white and then I get the "not responding" message. This has become very irritating for a 700 dollar program.
